For the 3.5 motor I found the Bosch AU falcon 85A alternator bolted straight in, just got the auto elec to change over the pulley. About $180 for this.

I have got a hitachi alternator on mine which seems to be good but it has an external regulator and although the alternator is good somethings not quite right ...yet.

did you get anywhere with your Alternator?

Where in Melb are you - I have a great auto sparky in Box Hill or Toorak Tractors in Braeside are also pretty good for new Bosch kung pow units (eg 120 amp) for (I think about $300) My Hitachi is now working fine -turned out to be dodgey wiring - who'd have thought that in a rangie????

local auto sparkies here fit Commodore Bosch suits VN 80plus amps to Discos and RRs all the time - cost around 200 from memory......I went to wreckers and got the same for 40 dollars, took 30 mins to fit to a 3.5L just needed another belt and re-wired from some Google search info. Works just fine...
