That is funny. Maybe the "reputable 4x4 shop" doesn't know how to remove inner axles from CVs?

For a mainly road-driven vehicle, changing CVs left-right is a method of extending their life. But for a vehicle that is used offroad, doing that will probably make the CVs fail quickly.

Ditto, just funny that it broke a CV on the weekend, (nice of me to donate my spare  just for when he reads this) which he was talking about when he took it back to this mob to repair the rear airlocker which they installed 6 months ago and was doing a really good job at pressurising the diff (good for keeping water out but ;) ) and not locking it, makes me wonder about workmanship so he'll find out tuesday, told him to find out if it was o rings or a hole in the activation tube, my bid is the tube especially after hearing about the CV's

if they were secondhand then yes they should be kept as left or right relative to which side they were in in the donor as they will wear in one direction same as axels should always be kept left and right

hope that made sense just ran out of rum

Wll, since you have a short and long axle you don't have much choice.

Unless you've put some fandangled rear steering setup in, which involves a flipped over front diff housing..... :P
