What vehicles/engines come out with the r151 in them. Trying to deal with a wrecker that doesn't know the designation of his boxes only what they came out of.

some V6 4runners, 105 series 1HZ (no turbo) diesel, some turbo hilux(?)

find a better wrecker, because R151F only tells you what's inside the gearbox, ie ratios and construction, it does not tell you what it came out of and what it will go into. there will be differences in input shaft spline, bellhousing, extension housing and/or transfer case etc. The R151F is also externally indistinguishable from the R150F but has better 1st/2nd ratios, so you don't want to get stuck with a box that looks right but doesn't have the crawl ratio you paid for.

cheers

You sure its from a V6 Surf. Can you check the wrecks trans ID.

I don't believe the 90-95 Surfs were allowed to be imported with V6's as Toyota Oz had them in 4Runners. The diesel Surfs were permitted as Toyota did not sell a turbo diesel in OZ.

The later model V6 Surfs were permitted as again Toyota Oz did not sell them here.

If its from a V6 4Runner then it will be a R150 as no 4Runners came with a R151.

But diesel Surfs came with both the R150 and R151.
