sort of a hijack here...
Whats are the differences between a cig, mig, tig locker?
Why would one be better than the other?
I know they are different types of welds/welders but why would one be better than the other...?
Cheers

MIG AND TIG are just differnt types of weld (Metal indert gas and tungsten inert gas). Google it for the details, easier than asking here. As for diff, silicon all the way!

Yeh use silicone, but make sure its the proper high temp oil sealant stuff not plain clear water sealant for roofs.
As for different welders for welding diff, it doesnt matter what welder you use, as long as you solidly jam up the gears they all work.

I use silicon gasket maker, I've used blue, red and black, all seem to work.
Silicone gasket maker will work better than a gasket (told to me by a zook mechanic)
