GU Wiper issues

Hey Guys,

Sorry to jump in. I have a 99 GU patrol wagon that has an issue with the front windscreen wipers.

They work perfectly on high setting. However on low and intermittent settings they almost stall out. Sometimes it happens straight away sometimes they need to be on for up to 1/2 hour before they start to die.

Have had people tell me i need a new motor, have had people tell me to replace the switch.

Is this something anyone else has had on their vehicle? If so what was actually wrong. Didn't want to replace both if i didn't have to.

Thanks for any help you may be able to offer in advance.

it will most likely be in the motor. i used to reco wiper motors what happens is grease inside the motor/housing sits on the contacts and makes them stall i havent done one on a gu but id give this a go first..

Well i called nissan, they said they've not had problems with the motor. They have had problems with the switches.

Ordered a switch from the wreckers. Before i installed it i thought i'll pull the motor apart and take a look. Cleaned the brushes, re-tensioned the terminals, cleaned out the old grease, replaced with new grease, greased the linkages that join to the wiper arms and it works a treat.

So back to the wreckers the switch goes.
