NEW PROJECT - GU DUAL CAB 4.2 Turbo Auto
Getting bored with the 80 Series. Although it hasn't busted and goes well, I don't have the same faith in it as I did the Patrol - but want a newer one
Buying a RD28 GU, dual cab conversion to be performed. We have 4.2 diesel gq auto will fit behind the 4.2. Thiss will be my play car. HAs anyone ever fitted or done research on fitting a gq diesel auto to a gu? I know we will need new chassis brackets for the motor - gearbox mounts unsure but suspect the same
probably a long shot......

yea working on this myself.
TD42 with auto will be easy, the box will fit up no probs, but finding a Diesel GQ TD42 computer and harness to wire into the main system is harder as only ~200 GQ TD42 Autos were made. Not sure if petrol/diesel gearbox computer are same.
Mitch (GQ TROL) was lookin round Unzud, but not many wrecked over there.
I'm working on gettin one from Japan (harness computer etc)... Mines going to be daily driver/long term keeper, so wanna do it properly.
NZ was only market to get GU TD42 Auto....

To change the motor from a 2.8 to a 4.2 you dont need to fab up new brakets on the chassis. You do need to make a 10mm thick plate to bolt to the side of the 4.2 (drivers side i think) taking all 6 bolt holes then the 2.8t engine mount can bolt to it as the 2 are about 30mm diffrent on the chassis. If unsure look at mr dillons convertion if he has his Gq still. If you are unsure about strenght than dont worry as mine has been in for allmost ever and done the good stuff up the cape and allsorts of other crap and still on the origanal 2.8 rubber mount And the engine is making alot more tourque than when billy had it as i use it for a tow car now. 4.2 to 2.8 gearbox crossmember bolt up the same. But unsure with an auto
If needing any info on your convertion just send me a pm and ill send ya my ph number.
