ALDI hand winches

Hi all,

I splurged and bought one of the hand winches that ALDI have on special for $299, cased with cable and handles.

I also bought their winch recovery kit that has a winch extension strap, rated snatch block pulley and tree protector for another $99, also cased.

I took it all out of the cartons this evening and I have to say I am most pleased! The winch is as good as the other chinese made units but a heap cheaper, as are the other goodies.

Anyone looking for a hand winch could do worse!

that one looks alright dude! looks like a good buy! lets face it if your bogged and need to nudge yourself out slowly that would do better than having nothin at all! just give it a test run and check out for any stress damage or cracks etc around screw and bolt holes! good stuff! ;)

I had a flick through their other items....

I live the fact that a lot of the products come in hard cases - easy stacking and storage.

I also noted that they have a 9500lb electric winch for $599  . Looks identical to the picture in my Repco catalogue.

Yeh a guy i know bought a winch that was made in exactly same factory as aldis one and he said it has been fine. same line speed as a 9500lb warn lowmount. the ones at aldi are 9500lb lowmount and are only 600 bux :!:

Look good - quite a few good 4wd products in there cheap.

Aldi do things cheaper by finding the best product for the best price and then only stocking that, rather than 6 competing lines. Although Aldi is german they will stock stuff from anywhere in the world so long as it matches that criteria.

Lower inventory costs that way.

Obviously cost takes into account shipping and all that , so we see some aussie products the rest of the world never would.

Dammit. Now I need to go buy their TV tuner card and a power inverter.

While you're there buying a winch you can now also pick up a snowboard!!

The ALDI product buyer must be on some seriously good drugs to get that product mix!

seen the hand winches seen the 9500lb winch not bad for the money...

Bought the compressor tried not bad either! $99 .... I am not going to die for that price...

Will do some testing and give you a report asap.......

The hand winch looked ok the cable was bloody hell it can drag the Sydney harbour bridge!!!

But as familybus mentioned give her a quick test and make sure she's going to do the trick

I was looking at these on the net. Are the straps and snatch block rated?

The snatch block is stamped 8000kg and I forget what the rating is on the winch strap but I think it is 4000kg.

I thought about the inverter, but I need to find somewhere to put a second battery first. Oh, and I need more time so I can actually get out for a trip sometime soon!

Good cheap gear. I'll be checking the website a little more often now.

Went down and got a converter. note that the ones they were selling in QLD anyway have 1 powerpoint and not two.

Sicne the first thing you'd do is shove a 4 way powerboard into it not much concern from me...

i've been looking around for another tree protector strap and most places are charging between $65-75 for them.
So $99.00 for a tree trucnk protector, extension strap and a snatch block is an absolute bargan.

That's what I thought. Combined saving is prolly close to $200 so good going!

Still thinking about the inverter...

So were the ones in Vic. They got the catalogue wrong apparently.

If you have alook at the pic in there catalog. I am guessing it is exactly the same as the ironman winch.
Which I think the guys from SA 4wdmag (Andrew who posts on here) are testing.

As for the inverter, I brought mine from there 12mths ago. Havent used it much. But for $60, it seemed like good value to me.
If I had money I would go get a compressor.

I've had one of their inverters for about 12 months and it hasn't had a problem at all - mine has 2 outlets.

A mate bought one of the compressors and it wouldn't pump up a tyre. He said that you could put your finger over the end of the hose and stop it pumping. I'm glad that my local Aldi ran out now.
