just a quick question, are the short side rear axle shafts from a 60 series the same length as the short side ones from a 40 series?

i know they are on the front.

Yup. The seals changed in Jan 1979 to a more robust one. The axle lengths also increased by a few millimeters.

If a 60 series diff is 3" wider than a 40 series diff how can the axles be the same length? :?

the 3 inches is added to the long side axle, while keeping the short side the same length

that's the reason the pumpkin gets in the way at the front when you put 60 diffs under a 40. it's "more offset" from center than 40/70 housings

Does anyone know of a website that has this type of info available. I'm amalgamating a heap of 60 bits into a 40 and would love to know what is the same and what isn't.

Cheers
