I have a very noisy 2.0lt V6 Vitara (1995, manual, 260,000). I called an engine reconditioners (Higginbottoms) and they told me it would be a matter of doing a rebuild and that would cost $8995!! So, I am resorting to going for a swap from a wreckers and have been told I can swap it with the 2.5 out of a later model car...
Is this ok, and can it be done?
Also, what sort of costs are involved?
Any ideas, hints or things to stay well clear of is great appreciated WELL IN ADVANCE!!
Thanks
Bernie
PS Edited 20/6 to included klms

Sure it's possible but the two litre normally just blows up, it's a nosiy motor however if still running it should be fixable.
How noisy is it ,a lot of tapet noise and tic tic tic from the timing chain?
The info here somewhere but the search doesn't seem to be working at the moment but check out the following links.

use the fuel rail and throttle body with the 2.5.try to install the idle adjuster of the 2.0 litre if you can.
