I have a set of 4.4 heads and 3.5 heads off a hicomp motor and want to know which to use on my 4.4, obviously the rover heads have bigger valves and maybe slightly better ports but i dont want to drill the block to suit the rover oil feed - so what are my options ? Use the 4.4 heads (easiest ) but accessorie mounting will be harder, use the 3.5 heads and hope the splash oiling will be enough for the rocker gear. Or is it possible to plumb an external oil feed from an oil gallery on the block to the heads using copper tube ? Have seen this used on 1920's engines and on some high power modern engines. Is it easy enough to just drill the front of the 4.4 heads to use all my existing brackets without hitting a coolant passage ?

Most people I know just drilled the 3.5 heads.

Heads dont need to be drilled, its the block that needs to have the oil feed from the lifter gallery to the rocker pedestal hole drilled.

Sorry meant to say block. It doesn't need to be a big hole, one mate of mine had problems of too much oil getting into the heads, and had to put a restrictor in the holes he had drilled.
