what else is needed?

a 55 series steering colum, a custom intermediate shaft (between column and box) a 2 or 3 belt harmonic balancer pulley, a belt to drive the pump, 60 series knuckle arms, and either cut down 60 series steering arms with tie rods, or 75 series steering arms with tie rods, 4 crush tubes to go inside the chassis where you mount the box and you need to figure out the steering dampener and mounting position. you'll probably have to move the shock towers too.

hmm

move the shock towers?

i heard that a 55 series column is the go, anyone got one? :)

but i was thinking just a mod to the drag link on the 40 by welding and attaching a 60 series tie rod end to the steering box side would be all i would need?

maybe i shoudl put the disk brakes on first, and then do the deed to the power steer,

the reason i dont want a 40 eries box is i want to get rid of that dammed steering contraption behind the bumperbar, Sure it makes the steering much lighter, ( not needed when you go power steer) but its just another unit to put play in the front end, ah and no more rubbing the 35's on the relay rod from the box!

I wanto turf 40 series the power steer from my other 40's aswell

the engine side stuff is easy, they have v8's anyway.

So are you saying the 75 series tie rod ends fit straight into the 60 knuckle arms? Do the 75 series steering arms bolt straight up (correct width)?

Cheers,
Ray

WELDING steering arms is probably bad, and the rest of the geometry might not work out too well. if your going disks, just get some 60 series swivel hubs complete with knuckle arms... voila disk conversion, and you've got the right arms to accept 60 series tie rods. might as well do it right the first time.

i can get one (in South australia) and am happy to post, if your happy with paying postage on it plus purchase price.

thanks for the info dude :)

welding steering arms is ok, if its done properly.

the later model patrol drag links are welded from factory

i have a set of 60 series nuckles, but they are missing the swivelpins and the steering arms, i need a set :)

hmm including arms would be nice, i am trying to locate them here aswel :)

For the intermediate shaft i used an 80 series cushion joint to mate the big spline of the 55 series column to the 75 series intermediate shaft. The
75 shaft needs to be collapsed a little bit to fit but is otherwise pretty good.

With the 55 series column try and get a collapsable one because it makes
shortening it ALOT easier. If you rig isnt sprung over you would be best to
use a HJ or HZJ75 pitman arm because its flatter and wont hit your springs.

If you need any pictures just pm me im sure i can dig some up or take whatever pictures you need.

well i already have the box and the pump, just need the arms and information

however,

we just bought a 40 shell ( no driveline) with PS box already in situ, BUT its way out the front next to the bumperbar? hmmmmmm it has the draglink attached, but i have not seen it yet. so i cant say if it looks like a bodgey job or not!

Interestink!

Thanks for your help guys.

sounds like they've either run a 75 series p.s. box, done a saginaw one (popular yanky conversion) or possible a cressider conversion?

any welding of steering or suspension components will need to be welded by a certified welder and xray'd.
