hi just wondering whats the difference between the 8v and the 16v what goes better and what year was the first 16v released?

The difference is, that one of them has 8 valves (2 per cylinder) and one has 16 valves (4 valves per cylinder). The 16v will get twice as much air in and out of the cylinders giving a bigger bang. In theory anyway

oh so now you own a vitara! hahaha yea just wondering what VITARA OWNERS think the difference is.... what year did the first 16v model come out does any1 know?

well if you want the opinion of a non vitara owner, the 16v versions will go much better. And coupled to an automatic soft top on 32's with some crawler gears would be cool. Although you want the complete opposite dont you? Hardtop manual

Outright power, or power where its needed. Also, it wont flow twice as good. Its not like that suzuki in changing from 2 to 4 valves doubled the effective intake flow and area. There is an increase in perfomance, but at higher revs where the increased air volume can be more effective. At low revs (typical offroad situation say) there isnt so much of a difference. Most multi-port small capacity engines make more power higher in the rev band than similar 2 port (intake and exhaust) motors. I dont own a vit though sorry so dont have a lot of personal experience.
