Simex Extreme Trekker 2

Can anyone tell me how Simex Extreme Trekker 2 tyres drives on the road.I have BF Muddies KM and i want a more aggressive tyre but i also want to be able to go upto fraser island and places like that meaning alot of road kms to get to where i wanna go. Im from Sydney and i don't want 2 sets of tyres,I only normally drive the vechile on the weekend to get to places offroad .Do these tyres track all over the road ?How do bias ply tyres go on road to radials? Do these tyres sux bigtime on a wet road?

From everything i have heard, ETs drive very good for a byass ply tyre, but they are no Radial. for a long trip i think you would be frustrated by the road manners.
in my opinion you cant go past the Radial Claw, Much more aggressive than a BFG MT and drives like a dream.
i am on my second set and would not look past them in radials.

yeh i like the claws but they have only got a 2 ply sidewall in a 35/12.50/15 and i don't like the thought of a 2ply sidewall.What does the Simex have?

they are supprisingly good on the road bit scarey in the wet but the 3 centre lugs on mine make them handle mutch better then the JT2's i had before and quieter aswell

They drive like 4 balloons under your car and handle even worse. And they make that much road noise you sound like a B52 bomber approaching Hiroshima.
As far as offroad tyre goes, they s**t all over the BFG. As for Fraser Island, I wouldn't want to drive too far on the JT2's. IMHO BFG's would do better in sand anyway. Rocks and mud, I prefer mongrels over JT2's if your going 33's. Better still ET2's in a 35" or 36"
At the end of the day, if you want a serious offroad tyre you've gotta have more than one set of rims. If you want to compromise with a mud terrain for on and off road use, just remember it is a compromised tyre, not a true off-roader.

And two sets of tyres are the way to go. The ETs seem to weigh a fair bit more , then that makes them harder to turn at road speeds.
And they are absolutely tragic in the wet on road.
You would be wasting your money watching them melt away on driving inter-state.

Mine drove pretty good.if you adjust your speed to suit and can handle a bit more road noise then they are fine.

i have 36x12.5r15 et2s and cant hear them over the landcruiser gearbox whine

they are great fun in the wet with a little bit of stick though hehe

I drove from Sydney to Fraser and return on the JT2 and they were fine. Noisy though. Pump them up a bit and they will also wear a bit on the hwy. In terms of sand traction - the Simex rule supreme! I was driving around people that were bogged in Ngarla. Everyone will laugh at you as you drive on, as they did with me, but you will have the last laugh. I dropped to 11psi and they gave no problems. Definatly better than road patterns and better than MTR's up there also.
