"With a recommended retail price of over $1800.00"
Yeh... okkaaaayyy
They look like a standard aftermarket seat tho man... The ones I looked at at AutObarn were $700 for the pair.
They seem to be the same shape and all... but you are right about getting to sit in them and such.. would be good to see if they are comfy.
But hey, if they went for around $400-500 it would be a steal

Yeah could be a steal... just which way, looks like he picked up a batch lot cheap and is ditching them online.
Rock into autobarn or similar... often have deals going on lines heading out of production, neighbour picked up pair of SAAS units for 700. Full factory backup out of melbourne, known brand of good quality and got to test for comfort.
Be aware of high thigh support, can be a pain for getting in and out regularly and also make sure lumbar is supportive in fairly upright seat position without requiring excess rearward ass placement... causes excess curvature and fatigue, also weakens shock loading function of spine.

I didn't read the add but are they ADR approved, didn't have a brand name that I saw so this may be questionable.

Guts, try Autotechnica head office in Thomastown for a pair of ex demo seats. I enquired about a set and was offered a pair of grey leather for about 600. Nothing to lose at this stage!

They look like $345 worth to me. I reckon that with seats, you get what you pay for.
My Sparco sprints (non reclining) were $450 each years ago, and the SP-G recaro race seat I bought earlier this year was $1300 + $245 side plates + $300 for base/slide. I spend three hours a day in the Recaro and it was the best money I have ever spent on a car.
I recently replaced the Sparco's in the merc with a set of old Flofits (ARB used to sell them, US copy of a recaro.) and after one trip I am getting grief from my wife that whe doesn't want to go away in the car again without the race seats back in it!
I am very dubious about most of the seats available from cheaper outlets. I like the look of the autotechnica shell seat though, but at over $400, it is not really that cheap. Not a bad copy of a Recard SP-G though.
Years ago I saw a cutaway of a SAAS seat and was horrified.
Any reclining seat that can be sold that cheap will have a rubbish recliner mechanism, and is unlikely to be ADR compliant.
Decent reclining seats start at about $700 each. The money is in the reclining mechanism. Mostly, cheaper seat will have step adjustment and have play in them. Good quality recliners have infinite adjustment and if you try and bounce them back and forth they won't have any slack in them.
IMHO look for second hand Recaros, or second hand WRX/skyline GTR seats.
SSR-G surf's have LS Recaros standard so the seats and bases must be popping up at wreckers. The bases would be a pretty close match for the Hilux too.
Just my 2c worth.

i have seen some of these up close, and they look better in the photo than real life. build quality and material thickness was questionable. If ifs for the ute, why not fixxed back ones?

The Surf recaros will bolt straight into any 84- 97 hilux, they are extremely rare to find second hand from my experience.

Would recommend the surf seats. I had them in my old 84 x-tra cab lux and they were probably the best thing I did to the lux
They cost me $250 I think for the pair from one of the wreckers in brissie with just a bit of ringing around to find them and they were great, they had lumber adj. arse adj. and side adj. and they bolted straight in.
Slosh, if you are still chasing them try capalaba wreckers. They had a fair pile of them when I got mine

Did you have much trouble fitting wrx seats in your lux? They would definetly be comfy and have a race feel about them.

Because I have fuses and relays behind the drivers seat and need to beable to get to them quickly and easly. Plus being a single cab you need all the packing room you can get and you`d be amazed at just how much will fit behind the seats

They rock for comfort; some of my shorter friends love them but hate getting in as they nad themselves on the high sides
Fitting was easy took the feet from the Lux (carefully); welded and bolted (good high tencile) them to the base of the WRX ones. Painted and got a blue plate for them no worries

These are very suspiscous. The photograph is of a Recaro SP-G, no question. Even the little holes where the screw lock the belt guides into the seat are there. It is too close to be a copy.
My guess is that the photo's are chopped with the approval stickers and embriodered Recaro removed from a genuine SP-G.
No telling what you would get once you openeed the box!

cut and paste that into google and translate the page. Look for "comfort" seats on the "seat range" bar on the left. The LX series seats are pretty much the same as what is in the SSR-G surfs. The surfs have the cool oldskool mesh headrests if I recall correctly.
These retail for around the $1200-1400 each mark, new, from idealseat in Moorabbin. They are very helpful if you want to know what is available from Recaro new.
Steve.
