Slipping belt on startup - then belt warms up and it goes away?

If it's constant it's possible it's a bearing in the alt / ac compressor ... or even a rock or dirt stuck behind a pulley somewhere ....

it looks like its coming from down the bottom. There is a lil thing that has a rod connected to it and when u turn the power on the rod moves and makes the noise, it makes it when the glow plugs are heading up. hahah if u can understand that your doing well......

You're talking about the fuel control motor assembly? Bolted to the inlet manifold, has a rod that moves back and forth which is connected to the back of the fuel pump (which has 6 pipes coming from the top).

Probably a dry bearing / bushing in the motor assembly itself - might just be dirt, it's a bit fiddly but you can dismantly the whole assembly, clean it out and grease it up again (this is just short term as these types of motors generally use sintered bronze bushings rather than bearings - once they are dry it's reasonably difficult to re-lube them).

There is a slight possibility the gear set may have all it's lube dried up through age or water ingress - so in this case, just a few dobs of white marine grease in the assembly might cure it.

In any case - it's a fiddly job and it might just be easier to grab another one from the wreckers - but if the noise is that bad, the problem will more than likely be a fairly obvious one.
