hi, how many people are running a turbo on the stock 2.8 diesel rocky.
and would it be worth it or should i just build up a stock turbo motor instead.

Thanks Rick

Bundy and Spartacus have turbo's fitted to the n/a motor.

Just wait for them to reply

The worst thing is finding a turbo motor to start with.. haha :D

if u can its simple... well all i had to do was bolt mine when i got it tho

pick up as turbo intake/exhaust manifold
find a turbo that matches the exhaust flange
run oil lines from sender to somewhere---dont remember
run water lines from thermostat thru turbo and back into the black

this was setup by a turbo specialist for a 2.8NA--i think

or if your trick make your own exhaust manifold for whatever turbo u want.

ALSO-- u can turn up fuel by adjusting a screw on the back of the fuel pump
i havent done it yet so i may be wrong

looking at making an exhaust manifold and running a turbo from a hilux 2.8 kit plus intercooler if i can't find a stock manifold.
How much boost are you running and have you had any problems?

Thanks Rick

Just for reference the 2.8TD intercooled runs 11psi stock (F78 model)...

You should try to pick up a boost compensator Rangie... would work very well with your turbo setup.

apparently the wastegates bung... but i drove it anyway

hotfourok can a boost compensator be fitted to the stock injector pump or would it be better to find a turbo injector pump?

let me know how it turns out!!
I know people that run turbos that don't run a boost compensator and also i will have a look around for some type of after market boost compensator that could be patched in.

It would be awesome to get a injector pump with boost compensator attached... Coz if you find a compensator somewhere, it should have the pump nearby anyways

I'm not sure if the pumps are driven the same way on your models...

If you don't run one... You will only have ideal fuel mixture at ONE certain rpm. You can tune the pump to suit higher boost by putting more fuel in... but at lower boost pressures or when off boost, it will be overfuelling.
The other side of the coin is have the correct fuel when off or at lower boost, but you will run lean when the snail spools right up.

yer it was at padstow it had been rolled (big time) most of it was gone.
someone beat me to the motor but didnt wont the turbo.??
he had a dai pump with boost comp. but it was a gear drive not belt.
have had this stuff for about for a year now still lookin (not very hard) for inlet manifold. might have to chop my N/A manifold up.
