Hi Guys my power steering pump doesn't appear to be working that great as it keeps squealing. I adjust it and it works good for a bit and then is bad again.
I was just wondering if anyone knows if the surf pump will fit a Lux

Not sure if the pumps are interchangeable.
Are you saying that you adjust the power steering belt and the squeal goes away? How long does it take to come back? Is the belt dry/stretched? If you look inline with the pulley while its rotating, does it wobble or run true? Is it possible that you are not locking up the tension adjustment nut enough causing it to come loose again? Generally speaking worn pumps dont cause a squeel, they make a groaning sound when low on fluid. Also the squeel could be coming from a worn pulley that may be sharing the belt (idler or tensioner).

i wonder if you have a stuffed harmonic ballancer (ie front pulley).

Squeal takes about a week to come back, even when adjusted by my mechanic friend.
The pulley does not run exactly true, apparently Luxies are known for this.
Brand new belt and balancer.
Started happening when i bogged it in bull dust about 6 months ago.
I was going to look at making a custom bracket to hold it true and at good tension but it is a bit pricey for the effort.

You really need to find out whats causing the wobble in the pump pulley as I assume thats whats putting the belt out of adjustment. If its in the pump itself then either get an exchange reconditioned one (Repco, Fulcrum, BHSS, etc) or if you find out the surf one fits then go for a second hand one (I dont like second hand pumps much as its a gamble when they will start leaking, but your cash flow will dictate your decision here). However, if your problem is in the tensioning bracket then whatever pump you put on will continue to wobble.
Hope this helps,

get a late 5L pump, the pulley is held on by a spline not a keyway. i think you will find your keyway is flogged.
a 2Lte pump wont fit, they have a different offset.
