Hey All
My brothers just bought a 40, and would like to know where is the best place to do some research on putting coils underneath it, and engineering info..
Basically he's just after a website, not necessarily a forum.
I'm sure I'll be back with some more questions. lol

A couple of guys off
http://3rdrock4x4.com/forum/index.php have done 80 series diff swaps (spring conversion). They are also members on here so they'll probably be more help. The forum seems to be have gone down over the last few days but hopefully will be up again soon.

Thanks Ray.
He's more after something in black and white as to whats legal, and how its done.
BUT he says thank you, it will help.
If anyone else can keep pointing us in the right direction, it'd also be appreciated.

Yeah Brother Bear has read the build of Daz's... thing..
Did he put coils under it?

daz's is coiled.
best person for black and white legalities would be an engineer... internet opinions aren't worth the paper they're written on

I was under the impresion that if you completely re-designed the suspention system you could get a mod plate for it???

Sorry guys, I dont pretend to know for sure, its only what I've been told. That and the fact that I havent seen or heard of a leaf sprung rig converted to springs here that has been approved. Is there someone on this board that has done the conversion and had it approved in QLD? I really do hope I am wrong because leafs suck major ass!

Hey Ray185,
for my .02c I have seen a coil sprung shorty on Fraser. Thats about all I could tell you about it though. Could have been from interstate or not legal, not sure. However, worth looking into to it for certain if your heart is set on losing those leafs! More than likely a simple spring conversion is not legal but if your willing to throw enough cash at a problem or are really clever mechanically and technically there is more than likely a way around most mods. Red tape might test your patience though!:D
