Commodre shox in XL7

Hi all,
I have read somewhere on a suzuki forum that commodore shocks fit into the rear of XL7's.
Firstly is this true??
Secondly, therefore would a set of pump up/air shox fit and be able to be used for a bit firmer ride and control when loaded/towing??
I have (as previously posted) a fairly stock 2005 XL7 which has an ECB allyo bull bar hanging off the front. I am looking to put in some spring spacers into the front to level it up a bit and have found that under load or when towing the rear tends to sag and/or get bouncy. I want to fix these issues without too much expense or mods as the car is driven by my better half most of the time and she is not interested in doing too much to her much loved zuk.
All advice/ opinions appreciated.
Thanx in advance.
Cheers
