just a quikie, my future father inlaw bout a 97 40th aniv cruiser, diesel, did these come out optioned from factory with a duall battery set up? its got the cut outs on the insulation in the hood and the fiberglass cover that goes around the battery with all yota clamps etc. the strange thing about it has no solenoid, i couldnt find 1, but both the positives share the same lead with seperate earths.

Some people just wire two batteries in parallel, give same volatage but double the amps. Maybe explains your + leads gong to same and no solenoid.

The early petrol 3f had th3e battery on the opposite side, so a tray from toyota for one of them will fit in the engine bay and you have a place for a second battery.
If you look on ebay quickly, you will find one for sale secondhand.
