opinions? i'm putting the front axle together on my fj40, and i've got the choice... welded front or shimmed up LSD.
will a shimmed up LSD in the front make it climb step-ups easier? (biggest weakness of the current design)

At least with a shimmed LSD you'll be able to turn corners. The locker will tend to plough a lot more.

hey Ads, when i busted my old front diff and welded it at robe it was a dog to drive, would hate do drive it like that all the time. if it was a tight track i had to unlock one hub to turn properly. also i would not like to drive down a steppy hill and have the wheel ripped from my hands!!! Biz has a tight lsd in the front of his 75 and it steers good and seems to work a bit better than an open diff. but it's still not even close to a locker!!
