Howdy folks,

Chasing a bit of information on the 2004 SR5 Dual Cab Hiluxs, 3.4L V6 4 speed automatic.

Is this the same drivetrain they put in the prados?

The good and bads are?

Was there a recall on some of them re: something to do with the t/case?

Thanks in advance.

Kamo,

The recall on the transfer cases was for the auto's only. They were leaking transmission fluid pass the seals into the transfer case.

The good? well, power aint too bad till you fit larger tyres and they become slightly sluggish on takeoff. I got a 3.4 Hilux with full bar work all around and 32" tyres and its a manual and get 12.7-13.0 litres per 100kms.

hope it helped

I have the model you're talking about..

140 km on it - still good
Free t-case at 95k's was a bargain!!
Bit thirstier than the manual - esp when towing, but a good box.

I have been running 31's on road which are good. Just about to go to the cape on 285/75/16's to tow better with the O.D. off - will update with fuel figures later.

Cheers,

C.J.

GBC,

what brand 285/75x16's are you running if I may ask?

Also, do you just have the 2" suspension lift or do you have more?

Dont suppose you can post or send me a pic of your rig with the 285's on it?

Thanks max.

Just spent the last couple of weeks with a auto one for work, imo the auto is a terrible box. I prefer them with the manual more responsive and a lot better to drive. Fuel economy was good about the same as my 2.7 used to get.
