GQ Patrol Front Shocks vs. RR Classic Front Shocks

ok... before i get shot down in flames for asking a question on this... I have searched and trolled through heaps of threads to find the answer to this question. But to no avail.

Front shocks for a 3" lifted nissan - should the length be 325mm comp/550 ext? And is this the same as a +2" lifted RR Classic on the front?

I ask because i thought that for the front of a 3" lifted GQ Patrol I should ask for +2" lifted RR Classic front shocks [which I thought had the above quoted compressed and extended measurements] but the fella on the end of the phone said that the lengths I quoted were for a standard sized RR Classic front shock.

So am I asking for the right length shock? And is my understanding of the RR/GQ Patrol compatability of a 3" lifted Nissan shock correct or not??

Thanks
Harv.

The measurement you quote is correct.
The same goes for the Patrol, we use the same shocks for a 2 inch lift patrol as we use for a standard replacement.
So Rangie 2" lift shocks are also used as a standard replacement. These shocks are longer than what the shocks the Rangie and the Patrol come with from the factory.
This shock you asked for is the correct shocks.
If you want a bit longer shock on the front it may be worthwhile looking into a standard front Landcruiser shock. However it is a big jump up to 615mm extended

No flames, good question.

so the chap i spoke with was mistaken when he said my quoted length for front shock was for a standard RR classic shock rather than a +2" rr classic shock?

I run 80 series LandCruiser shocks up front. They work well!!!!

A correct valved Rangie Shock is too soft, I run 79 Series Cruiser in the front of my GQ.

If the shop deals with the right suspension company they will know this stuff or be able to ask.

We use this shock for standard Rangie/Disco, 2" lifted Rangie/Disco and 3" lifted Patrols.[/quote]

just a little bit of a hijack but are RR coils the same as gq front ( OD size )
so for example if i had coil spacers of a rangie would they fit front gq coils ;)

I dont think so. I think the outside diameter for rr coils is 118mm vs. 140mm for patrols

Just to confirm, what Harvey said. Will not fit.

I have twin 80 series LC shocks in the front with a 3" lift. The handling is amazing.
