Hey all.... been a while since I posted....
Anyone got a V8 100 Series on gas??
Not that I'm unhappy with the over all fuel consumption, but I am unhappy about paying $1.52 per lt for petrol....
I'm seriously considering fitting the Parnell VSI System (Vapour Sequential Injection)....
Seems to be the best injected system on the market at the moment....
Anyone on here running with this or know someone who is??
Any comments??
Cheers....
Chris....

Not personal experience I know... But have a search around a few of the forums as there was at least one 2UZ-FE that bent a rod, and wty was void as it was stated that the failure was caused by the gas install.
Don't know what the final outcome was, but there's not too many driving around on LPG in Melb.

Not a top idea fitting the v8 up with gas. besides the exagerated valve wear the cost of a back fire 9via inlet0 is hidious. Had to put a new air cleaner in a customers v8 100 and cost was about $920. Sure made the savings of converting and running on gas a non event

My old man has a 2004 v8, just fitted a few months ago with injected gas. He is currently travelling with his 16 foot off road van and a boat on the top of the rack on his cruiser. No problems whatsoever. Returning 400plus km per tank(100l) all loaded up as above. He has done a few trips without the van and is getting almost 6l/100km.
That is excellent fuel economy and supports the cost of conversion. As far as problems go, the reason that the V8 has had problems in the past with backfire is to do with autos and the computers. The car computer and the gas computer get confused at low speed and when you accelarate away at low speed the vehicle selects the wrong gear and with all the gas going in, it backfires. This can happen to a manual if you let it labour.
The new system that my father is running is an injected system and with a valve lubricant should have many a kilometre trouble free running. However the system is a new style and is more expensive that the older system. I think it const him near $4k, but makes a nice car better, especially on your hip pocket in the long run.
As I said this is a new system and was the first of the newer models fitted in NSW. The vehicle had to be tested by the EPA for emissions etc, both before and after the gas was fitted. The system was supplied by a bloke in Newcastle (NSW), can't think of the name of his company, but it is at Cardiff and his name is Tony.
I think that gas is the way to go at the moment, but bear in mind that if you don't have at least 30c/litre difference in the cost, it's not worth it. In remote areas we just save our gas and use it as a long range tank, then fill it up at the next available servo. BUT bear in mind that there is talk that the Government is going to up the taxes on gas in the next few years. I have heard a couple of dates that they are suppose to be putting up the taxes - 2009 and 2011
My thoughts for what they are worth to you.
regards
Tony

I think there's a problem there.... If you could achieve 6L / 100km in a V8 Cruiser on gas everyone would be getting one!
Maybe 6km / litre = 16.66L/100km?

Thanks for the replies guys....
jp - Economy varies.... Average is between 15 - 16 lt/100km with a mix of town and highway driving.... Can get down to 13-14 on a trip.... 22-24 towing the boat (2.5tonne Malibu Wakesetter).... Also bear in mind that I only run 98 Ocatane PULP (Synergy 8000 or BP Ultimate) AND I have two Hiclones fitted....
hdj105 - Thanks for the heads up.... I'll have a look around....
Oxyg3n - The 100 Series you replaced the aircleaner on.... Was the gas system Injected or Traditional??
trh80 - You have a pm waiting for you....
Again thanks for the replies guys....
Cheers

EFI, let us know how you get on, I came on here to post the exact same question, I am looking around for a cruiser now. Checking up on the Parnell system indicates that it is the best system available at the moment.
When are you doing the conversion?
