Some real tech on the 05 lux

Has anyone pulled apart the rear diff in the new lux's? Im just wondering if the diff centre is interchangable with the older centres or has it been redesigned? same spline count? i believe they come standard with a 3.5 ratio, is that right? (hence the inquiry of diff centre swap), they also have a wider track than the older ifs rears dont they?

Ive just had an 05 model lux on the hoist so i got some measurements off the rear housing.
From the outside of the drum LHS to the outside of the drum RHS is dead on 1600mm.
Front centre pin of the spring LHS to the centre pin of the spring RHS is 1075mm.
I also got some leaf spring measurements. From the rear shackle eye of the spring to the centre pin is 680mm. From the centre pin to the front is 620mm.
I will draw up some pics with the measurements when i get home tonight and i also have a few photos of the housing, drums and handbrake setup.
So far to convert this into a solid axle lux (older than '97) will need a few mods, such as the the handbrake cable, brake lines and the proportioning valve, but these WILL be overcome.
Also, the diff apears to share the same mounting flange as every other hilux (exception of IFS front). So providing the spline count is identical then its a straight swap.

check the link for the one that overkill did mods to from memory no the rear diffs are something new and diff size to the older hilux ones
They have made a few little changes to the rear diff as well Standard ratio is 3.5 axles are longer as the track difference front to rear was only 5mm
and the rear centre has a bigger diameter spline on the pinion and tailshaft hole centres are the same as a 60 series. And after driving today after putting 4.1 ratio in the rear to match the front and in low range there is a shit load of reduction so will check tomorrow but i would guess low range ratio may be lower than the older models.

ARB list the RD23 as the rear locker for 2005 onwards. So splines are the same, and by my judgement the earlier model diffs will bolt straight in.
