Modifying high mount winch drum...

Post by DanielS »

Hey guys,

Im currently building a bar for my GQ and I'm looking into modifying my winch drum to hold more rope. I have heard of some people making it wider by 150mm does this sound right?? If you have done this mod what have you done??

All info would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

yeah mate I did mine, pretty easy just make sure you part right through the weld or it may drop off later. I reduced the diameter as well for more torque on 2 line pulls, think i went 160 from memory

cheers bru

Line may not play onto the ends of a wider drum unless roller fairlead widened by the same amount.
