Hi All,
Anybody have this before, fluctuating between 750 and 1000 rpm, only when cold (cold as in not run, not cold outside temp). Once it's warm it idles at 950 rpm. It sounds like its missing on one cylinder, if its reved to 2000 + rpm it sounds fine. Any ideas greatfully accepted.

Haven't had the problem on my Feroza, but have had an identical problem on my Honda Prelude several times, so this may help.

My problem was a build up of shit in the fuel filter, and after being replaced and taking preventative action, it hasn't happened since. Here's the reason given by my mechanic...

The older a car gets, the more rubbish (solids from bad station tanks etc) builds up in the fuel tank. Running the car to empty increases the likelyhood of the rubbish ending up in your fuel filter which will then retard the fuel flow.

My mechanic replaced my fuel filter and advised never to run below a quarter of a tank. He also recommended using a fuel cleaner every third fill-up (he didn't sell or endorse any particular product).

This was 4 months ago now and the Honda idles fine (it's on 272,000kms) and has more get poke than before.

Hope that helps.

Darren

Thanks for that one, I nearly ran out of fuel a week or two ago, your mechanic might be correct. I'll replace the filter tomorrow and see what happens.

Installed the new filter, noticed that the old one (genuine) was in upside down and the fuel that ran out was dirty. Wait till tomorrow to see how it starts.
