Diff help needed

I have a 2001 GU wagon i was wanting to tighten the rear LSD up should i fork out the money and get a diff shop to repack the clutches or is a higher grade LSD oil say 140 ok?
i have done searches and im confused on what to do.

I changed my oil to Penrite 80-140w and it didn't really make a difference. It was designed for heavy duty offroad use or something..
The repacking of the diff would be a huge increase.. I'm contemplating it also, but I was wondering how quick it will wear out again...
I wanna sound like a Gemini in the Coles carpark with a locked diff

should be using castrol lsx90 very good oil. 85W140 to heavy. can use a 140 but need friction modifier.

Please explain about the friction modifier? im not sure what you mean..

Nissan LSD's normally use 80/140 LSD oil. This is to counteract the heat from the clutch packs when in operation (so I was told)
Normal diff oil has no friction modifier. This is all you need to do to tighten up its operation.
The friction modifier allows the clutches to break away smoothly without chatter.
A lot of Nissans when turning corners chatter a bit standard.
Service guys either change the oil or add a small vial of friction modifier to reduce noise if customer complains. I would leave alone.

No 80/140 or it will be too thick when cold.

nissan dont actually recommend 80/140 and neither does my diff bloke. in the manual recommends SAE140 API GL5 plus 10% friction modifier. you can use any type of lsd friction additive e.g. nulon etc.
majority of dealers use the lsx90.
if you want to try something different give castrol 80w140 SAF-XAa try, its a fully synthetic lsd oil with no additives needed. its made for "high powered vehicles operating in severe conditions" i put some in a 04 M3 and was very happy they come out of the factory with diff chatter and noise. this car also gets a floggin 20,000 later still goin real good.

also if you read the back of the packet is states " made for Nissan 4WD" among others.

also 80w140. 80W is the cold thicknesss or weight.

So, LSD oil contains friction modifier in it when bought....
Does this mean running standard gear oil as in an open diff would make the LSD operate more tightly, but also increase chatter?
My front diff runs 75w/90 Thuban Gear Oil, IIRC
