Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Going to flush the 80's cooling system in a couple of weeks. With the new water restrictions up here in Brisy how the hell are you supposed to do this legally? As far as I can tell you cannot use a hose at all?!?!?!?!?

I guess I will drive the 80 around the back and use the hose. Don't want to get stung with a fine! There was a council worker driving around fining people last weekend.

Just like the b-double tipper i saw yesterday with "trying washing this with a bucket!" written in to the dust on the back of the trailer

We have had water restrictions in Sydney for a couple of years now.

We can only hose the lawn before 9am/ after 4pm Wed and Sun. All car washing is by bucket. I can only suggest get a rainwater tank, or a water bore and knock yourself out.

All my neighbours break the law and hose there lawns, wash their cars, but if you can do it out of site from the road. That way people walking dogs, passing cars, and the rangers cant see and bust you.

my workmate has a rain water tank but still got dobbed in by neighbours. he now has a sign out front "i'm currently using my own stored rainwater". no one minds now. just make yourself a similar sign and go right ahead!

If u got an abn just go online to the water board's site in your state and make um some legit reason for needing it. Then keep the sticker you get in a very visible spot. Its a free permit u just need a reason + abn

In Brisbane as a business you may also need a Water Efficiency Management Plan (WEMP). Not worth the hassle for the occasonal car wash/cooling sys flush.

i think that is rediculous if some1 told u off.

If your that worried about it, fill it with buckets of water. It's not as if it's a 300l tank.

We had very tough water restrictions in Vic for the past few years now. Go with it, it's a necessary thing. You'll be surprised after time just how much water you waste. Our water restrictions have been relaxed now as we've learnt how to save water (and we're finally getting some rain).

great attitude, why should anyone worry then, its ridiculous to be told off to save water Water restrictions are there for a reason, do as GQ Bear says I reckon. Might also be able to rig up an air compressor to it as well to try and force the water through with some pressure rather than just gravity from pouring out of a bucket. Also place a bucket at the other end to save the water flowing through

you can use your hose for health and safty reasons, so you could say it was for thr the health of your motor

Hey Grimbo i dont mean for him to go out and waste water but there is nothing wrong with using the hose to fill the rad. If anything he will use less water because of the spillage involved with using buckets. I'm not a person who wastes any water but filling up your rad NEEDS to be done so just do it. If he is that worried, while flushing it he can put a bucket under the bottom rad hose and collect everything that comes out and put it on the garden.

There is a big difference between wasting water and using it properly. You use 10 times that amount of water every day to have a shower or flush your shit down the dunny but you do it cause it has to be done. I was not telling him how to water his grass and hose down his driveway and try to get away with it!!

I am going to flush the thing really well, including the block so I dont think using a bucket would be very fun!

Not particularily worried about it, council could be a pain if they wanted to be though. Might just drive down to brother in laws. They have a big water tank out at Jimboomba.

A similar question arose in my mind in regards to flushing out the outboard motor of a boat...this is the responce I got.

The hose must be connected to the motor direct (via earmuffs). The motor must be turned on before the hose is. Flush out the motor for the manufacturers reccomended time. Turn hose off. Turn motor off.

First off I never like running my outboard dry...even for the shortest of periods.

But heres the kicker...the hose MUST be hand held at all time. WTF? Thats not going to decrease the amount of water being used.







And as for washing your car/truck/boat with a bucket...surely that would scratch the paintwork (much prefer a sponge myself)
