I'm after some ideas how to get some cold air into my tb42 without adding a snorkle has anyone been able to get cold air from the front of the car with adding a snorkle.

Also the big hilcone thingy that is on the air induction system on factory does this thing do anything other then slow down the air going into my car?

Cheers guys my car is on the road 95% of the time and the other 5% on the beach once a year

So this car doesn't see much dust etc on the road...

The big hilclone thingy would be to swirl the air and maybe seperate dirt/water/foreign matter from the air stream...
My air filter has a plastic case covering half of the element with fins on it which swirls the air as it moves past.. does the same job.

Does the factory setup take air from behind the headlight?

If you didnt go offroad you can run a pipe into the front bumper to receive colder air (Like the rice boys  ).. but the difference is negligible, in both power and economy. But offroad, this would be more drama than it's worth.

The best way is a snorkel... and then u have a better offroad setup if you ever do venture out

If you stay on road, you could fit a K&N or Uni Filter. These give better flow and performance, but are known to let more particles through... Do a search on these items if you like.

If you really want to do it... buy some flexible pipe and be creative.... It wont make too much difference though... Its no sports car :D

i agree snorkle would be the easyest option, but they have been proven to hold back power on higher performance motors. the patrols intake is from inside the guard so it will be getting cool air anyway, dont think it would make much difference.

I'm not too sure why you wouldn' t go a snorkle. I know that everyone has one but it does make sense. It not only gives you good clean air out of the way of water and a fair bit of the dust and crap but it also gives you a ram air effect. If it still doesn' t take your fancy then why not have a look at a bonet scoop with a collector box and piping to your air filter or even an aftermarket airbox with a pod style filter!

Yeah thanks guys the only reason i thought i would ask maybe becuase there could be some extra HP to be gained    also that cylinder thing i decribed doesn'r spin inside it is flat metal with like 5 wedge bits taken out of the panel around the outside edge. In my oppion i thought this would slow down alot of the forced air into the car not sure.....

Cheers guys :D

I have heard bad things about those pod filters to be very loud and noisey... i don't mind noise just not annoying ones  i have thought also about the the scoop they put on those Toranas it's very wide and i think it scoops air from the windscreen not sure if this would work or not though... :?

Cheers.
