I have gotten rid of my underfloor spare wheel and want to fit an Aux
Fuel tank to the space.I have had a quote of $1500.00 for an aftermarket tank but would prefer to "bodge " something up myself if possible.
This is how I want everything set up:
Dual tanks.Keeping the stock tank in situ as the auxiliary.
New tank(from wrecker) 60-100ltr as the primary tank.
Switchable on dash, using stock fuel guage for both.Electric fuel solenoid similar set up to a FJ80 cruiser?
At some point in the system I will need an electric fuel pump to feed a 1JZ-GTE turbo fuel system.
Plumbing...anything I should keep in mind re:breathers,returns,non-return valves etc...
Some things to consider...How do I fill them both-two fillers side by side?
One filler split under body?
Has anyone here done this before?
Anyone have any pointers?Links to others who have performed a similar"Bodge"?
I have tested my rear suspension with 175 ltr s of water in the rear.No problems as the rear springs are HD aftermarket jobbies.(175 ltrs as with the Surf swingawy wheel carrier+wheel+100kgs water=approx 175 kg)
I need to get all this soughted before my engine transplant for exhaust reasons.
Any help or links would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Westie

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.
Fuel filler
Thanks for response.
Does the 100 series come standard with dual tanks?

Our one at SES is a pov pack NA Diesel and it has twin 90 odd litre tanks, there is one cap to undo but it has two openings inside it. Dunno about any of the other models

Aux tank
$1500 sounds a bit hot!! I helped a mate fit a Brown Davis auxillary under the back of his 95 4runner, 120 litres for around the $800 mark. Easy to fit, the wheel winch drops through the centre to help hold it in, and you can still carry the spare underneath (as if you would!). Hardest part was dicking around with the twin filler, lining up the screws required a triple jointed wrist.
