Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Anyone know how easy it is to open the drums on the Ferozas??? Never had a drum brake vehicle before so don't know what to expect.

Forgot to mention why I want to do this... Got a crapload of mud in them and now the damn thing is near not stopping at all. Brake pedal close to the floor before it starts slowing and the handbrake is near vertical before it works. Maybe the handbrake cable cable needs adjusting???

Hammer, meet Screwdriver...Screwdriver, meet Hammer...

Give it a few good whacks with the hammer, shakes and loosen things up a bit, Use the screw driver as a pry bar, work one side, then the other, move around like you should do when undoing wheelnuts....takes time but worked for me..

The drums on my Feroza were a complete b*****d to get off! If i remember right they have an M10 fine thread in two holes on the drum face so you can screw a bolt in to draw the drum off the hub. But don't expect the threads to be any good. One side of mine was OK but the other was knackerd. Took me close to an hour to pry it off. Best thing i found to use was some BIG screwdrivers and a BIG hammer,some swearing and lots of patience

I don't see it requiring a mechanic to open them up and wash out a bit of mud.

I think I can manage a pair of drum brakes now that I have the hammer and screwdriver info. And just as well... they are all the tools I have.

Will give the bolt thing a go.... I have a whole box of M10'S lying around... now all I need is a spanner......

Will no doubt let you guys know how many ways I managed to use the F%#@ word while trying to get them off.....

If You still have threads left You could try what I did and screw the bolts threw the links of a chainand then into the wheel hub and use a slide hammer on it. I still had to beat the hell out of it but worked better then the screwdriver.

mine were a bit hard to get off on sunday, but i just stuck the end of the tool provided to remove the hub centers into the holes for the bolts and worked them off.

My handbrake was also rooted after sat, but a few turns of the cable adjusting bolts saw that fixed.

The Handbrake problem could be siezed adjusters.

I got the Rocky back from the mechanic today with a similar problem, pedal almost to the floor, handbrake all the way up and still nothing. Now it only has to go up 2 or 3 clicks.

Well guys. Finally got the time to clean out the drums yesterday. Don't know what you guys were on about though. I took me 5 minutes to take the drums off the thing.

Well a lot of crap was found in there including a piece of cement????????? Don't ask I have no idea....

Anyway, drums all ok working like a dream. Thanks for all your help fellas.

Well, it did take me 25 minutes to realise I had the handbrake on beforehand though...

Funny how we tend to omit these little bits of embarrasing info on our posts....
