Just starting out in fixing my own car so sorry for the dumb question but need to know what the following bushes are so I can explain to a shop and order replacements.

Car is a 1985 Land Rover County
Pics are of the front of the car, power steering is leaking from the obviously broken bush on the drivers side, and the ones on the passenger side are starting to go brittle so thought I would replace aswell.

Was hoping to find out what they are called so I could relay to a parts store and order the right things. Doesn't look much harder than the starter motor I've replaced so will give it a try.

You'll be wanting steering damper bushes and ball joint boots for the pitman arm and tie rod ends. The boots come in a range of sizes and usually include a spring to secure them. REPCO have them as well as most steering/suspension and spare parts places. There are a few different ways of removing the ball joint end from the taper in the arms, feel free to ask if you havent done it before.

For the steering damper bushes, I just cut front shock bushes in half , however I'm sure they could be had from most of the above places.

The drag link ball joints are bought as a whole item and just screw into the end of the drag link and track rods.
The ball joint at the end of the pitman arm (pic2) has to be bought as a kit only and assembled yourself.

thanks guys, been thinking about this for a while but still confused as you seem to be calling things by different names.

I take it the pitman arm is the arm that comes down from the p/s box that has the 45deg angle and the broken boot on the bottom of that is what you are all referring to.

Does this pic with labels look right? Just seems that Mark and Walker have said different names for the same things?
