winch performance modifications

Noticed that people have modified their winches in the comp scene but there really is no information floating around about it all.

The M8274 highmount seems to be the winch of choice for comp rigs as it is speedy as can be and takes a huge amount of cable/plasma.

I have also heard of people modifying 9000lb winches to give them similar line speed as the 8274 high mount.

Also have they developed plasma rope that runs properly on low mounts yet?

Anyone got any comments?

I haven't really been keeping up with winch technology :)

cheers
