Hi everyone

Just joined up as a new member to this forum. I am in the process of rebuilding a 1981 Toyota FJ45 Landcruiser with a Ford V8 conversion. I am going to paint the cab myself and have done a fair bit of body work.

What I would like to ask is on the firewall there is little spots of surface rust that are hard to get rid off, as its in arkward places. None of it is major just little bits .

I was thinking maybe one of those portable mini sandblasters that u hook up to your compressor.

Thanks Jason McCarty

Yeah, sandblasting it is probably the way to go. I had a similar problem when I was building my 45. If you can, get your hands on some undiluted hydrochloric acid, that's what I used and it worked a treat.
Good luck with the build up mate, Go the 45's!!!!

tried applying a rust convertor solution yet?

i used it on lightly-rusted sills and it disolved the rust away

if it's in a tricky spot, you might not be able to get tools in there

so sand it by hand and apply rust convertor

My old man drives a concrete truck, and they use hydrochloric acid to clean the concrete off the mixers. So, I "aquired" a small amount of it. ;)
