A Few Questions.

Hi guys
I have a Ford Maverick 88 TB42 SWB.
Q1:I went up the beach on the week end and on the way there the car went fine didn't have any probs. On the way back i was in soft sand for a while and after about 15mins of driving in soft sand the car started to make a rattling noise only under load at any rev range. The rattle noise was not like a knocking noise but a light rattle it was comming from the front of the car and i kept driving it but i would like to try find out what it might have been. It did the rattle noise on both petrol/LPG and also in both 4wd and 2wd. Soon as i got on the road the noise went straight away and i have now not heard it once after being back on the road.
Q2: While i was on the beach both my back shocks (Stock) started leaking oil
so it's time to buy some new ones not bad for 18 years 
I have a question this car does 99% of the time on the road so road use would be a must. I tow a boat a pretty often so i was think along the lines of Air Shocks so i can pump them up kinda hard to make the car corner better and feel more stable not as swaying
Could someone maybe suggest a shock for my needs as i tow a boat but not all the time. so mainly what i need is a good stable shock that will corner nicely
but won't cost a arm and a leg. Should i replace all four shocks or just the back 2?
Q3: When up the beach on the soft sand my clutch felt hard as a rock after in the sand for a bit and yes the car was working it's ring off
Is this normal as i'm new to this
