The motor, gearbox and conversion kit would be worth a lot more than $1000.

Being a 1970 40 series all the suspension mounts are of the small size, you can pick up a second hand adaptor kit for between $300-$500 pretty much anywhere, drum brakes i suppose all round are worth between $100 - $250 each the only thing that may be worth while would be the gearbox and transfer case which you MAY get $700-$1100 completley depending on condition.

In my opinion the vehicle isn't registered and needs a hell of a lot for a rwc and engineers so thats not worth it. As far as parting it out the buy price would need to be atleast half of what its currently sitting at to make a descent return on your investment, don't forget to take into consideration the amount of time and effort that would have to be expended to pull it apart and then you will always be left with shite that no one wants cos its an old 40.

I hope my practical outlook on this vehicle is of some assistance to you

Cheers Benny

Further more a old carby 308 you can pick up second hand for $300-$1000 once again depends completely on condition. Or you can buy an old hq-wb or an old commodore with a v8 then you have better value for money, as you then have other parts that are worth money "POTENTIALLY".

So you are basically paying $1000 for the conversion kit and 5 spd gearbox - and get a running V8, four wheel disc brakes, front and rear axle etc. for free.

If you are buying this to part out and not to do your own V8 conversion then if you can find the buyers you will make a bit of spare cash.

However if you wanted to to do your own V8 and 5spd conversion to your 40/45 then at $1000 you can't possibly ask for a better deal.

I'm doing my second V8 to 45 conversion, and this time round i bought a donor vehicle with a 350 chev - much better than the other way of buying everything separate.

Cheers
