Ok there is this thread:

http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... ght=celica

But not much info on this particular conversion. I have a celica 1.8 twin cam and gearbox, and was thinking about the conversion. Has anyone seen or done this conversion and were there any particular problems involved? Is it similar to the Corolla conversion? It's a carby job so there shouldn't be any fuel supply issues, would I need to have a custom spline made from gearbox to transfer? Engine mounts are prob the main area if anyone knows about them.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a celica 1.8 twin cam and gearbox, Isn't a celia engine an east west mount with font wheel drive. My input on this would be a conversion would be very or too hard. Thoe I maybe wrong. The engine could be used but the gearbox how would you do a trasfer case.

The earlier celicas were RWD. The 2T engine mentioned in that link is from the earlier models.

if its a 2t the box should be a t50 so the conversion should be similar to the 4age .
you will need to adapt the jackshaft so it is toyota fr zuk rear it ends up very short.
as for mounts you will have to work that 1 out, im not sure how different to ge mounts they are.

what eng is it
it could also be a 18rgu not sure what box ??

Yeah should have been a 'G' :D

Think I'll look for a reco Zuk engine. The size and fiddly bits like the carb and clutch are putting me off.

Mid North Coast, NSW.

I'll look around at prices on the hilux gear and have another think about the conversion. Thanks for the advice so far Drew.
