Prado coil spring spacers

Okay anybody out there that has a 90 series Prado and has for some reason had coil spring spacers made up for the front end?

I have standard duty ?50mm? lifted Kings springs and Monroe Magnum struts on the front of the Prado. Am just about to get new MTRs all round and am concerned about lifting the front end. I have a steel winch bar, a Warn XD9000, driving lights etc. I am also considering putting in a second battery, but the Prado looks like a drag car as it is now. (ie front end on the ground with its arse in the air, as the rear coils are 50mm lifted Kings springs as well).

I didn't want to go to heavy duty lifted coils for 2 reasons, the extra expense and I like the way the existing coils ride and I'd hate for it to become harsh and jittery because of the heavy duty coils.

So, to my original question. Has anybody done a coil spring spacer for a Prado. I know Cruiser and Patrols have them, but nobody seems to make an off the shelf job for a Prado.

Any help would be hugely appreciated as the tyres are going on in a couple of weeks (already come in, waiting for the dollars to arrive).

Cheers

more weight on the coils with coils specers will do the same thing as a bit stiffer spring rate, I wouldnt put spacers in full stop.

we have specials on at the moment and for a little oer double the price of spacers I can sort tyou out with some coils, do it right the first time

I think ridepro have coil spacers 15mm, which = 30mm at the wheel.

We have been making coil over adjusters fit prado Bilstein struts previously, but we now use different circlip heights to maintain height, depending on vehicle height and acc fitted.

You can also space the actual strut down from the chassis mount easily, but with any coil spacer option, ensure the spring wont coil bind before the vehicle hits the bump stop.

Just go the HD springs- we have a 95 series TD with twin batteries and a steel bar on 265/75R16 BFG AT's, with HD all round, on bilstien shockies, and the ride is absolutely fantastic- and they didnt sag more than 5mm when they settled.

Thanks guys.

Darren, do you have a contact at Ridepro that would know what he's (or she's) talking about?

I tried chasing up details off local suspension shop in Newcastle and got put off. All things considered I know I should probably get the HD spring option, but like most family guys who've got rug rats, "money's too tight to mention"... you know the song.......  anyway.

I would really like to get this sorted before the new MTRs go on.

Tiny, I will have a look at your site and see what sort of stretch (financially) it wqould take to get new HD versions.

Ridepro dont, but ARB do, and 15mm is about as muxh as you will get before coil bind.

You will also need to ensure you keep a minimum of 60mm of droop in the front, and you will need to do a wheel alignment.

New coils should cost you $195 ish for the front in HD.

I put some of these Daystar 1" strut spacers in part number is KT09105BK from www.4wheelparts.com in the states.

These are for the Toyota Tacoma which have the same front end as 90series Prado. The spacer fits at the top of the strut assembly so it works a little different from a coil spacer.

It has levelled the car out nicely and the ride is unchanged, hardly any travel lost either. Droop is still 80mm with lovells medium springs which is better than a higher OME spring.

I'd recommend Daystar, as mentioned above, but get them for a 4Runner with the same year model as your Prado, because the Tacoma changed to the new style coilovers earlier than the 4Runner (same as new hilux & 120 series), you could end up with the wrong ones, just something I was warned about when buying my front suspension.
