Well if you were driving to work this morning near heatherton rd on the Monash Freeway you possibly would have seem me sitting in my car waiting for the tow truck to come and pick up my beast in the outbound lanes.

My Cat shit itself and completely blocked up the muffler so i found out later on and its actually working out cheaper for me to get extractors and a new exhaust rather than the standard exhaust ($900!!).

I've been quoted between $730 and $800 for the following 2inch kit complete from exhaust manifold to tip:

2inch lukey tri-Y extractors $290
Universal Cat $250
pipe and labour $200-260.

you guys know where i can get this stuff cheaper? also any experience with this setup or any other info that would help.

I've search and read heaps on this tonight my brain hurts :? This seems to be the best setup from what i've found out.

cheers
DAn

last exhaust I got was 2.5" mild steel with extractors for $550 fitted

you should be able to get close to that, ring around exhaust shops until you find one thats willing to do it cheaper.

Bluemq,

Did that include a cat, sounds very cheap.

Dank that sounds about right, you might be able to pick up some 2nd hand extractors if you're luckly which would make it a bit easier on the pocket

Good advice bluemq.

I rang around and was able to get it down to $600. This includes cat, walker 4-2-1 extractors, 2inch pipe, muffler and labour.

After this quote i rang about 5 other joints and they all laughed when i asked if they could beat it.

I guess for a full brand new system from exhaust manifold to tip this price is reasonable. Getting the work done on saturday so we'll see how it goes.

dont forget you get what you pay for, especially when it comes to paying for peoples welding skills but with so many options on which way to go i would aim for some where in the middle price range area

Sounds about right to me ..
Make sure you get a flex join (looks like a bit bit of steel braided hose about 80 to 100mm or so long) at the end of the extractors to relive stress on the pipes as the engine moves in its mounts a little.
