Hilux gear box?

hi all i have a ln106 model 4x4hilux 2.8d engine, my gearbox is gone 3rd gear i have the oppertunity to buy a 5 speed box out a 1996 model 4x4 hilux petrol engine....my question is will this gear box fit in my model, im just abit worried about the gearbox ratios will they be the same as the 2.8 diesel. i was thinking the gears should be the same the diff ratios would be different. i would just like too know if anyone has anymore info they can give me please

If your gearbox and the donor have the same type of transfer case eg gear drive or chain drive the will swap
gear drive transfer has 21 spline shaft chain drive has 26 spline shaft
The petrol and diesel both have the same G52 gearboxes and the ratios are the same different bellhousings for different engines

agreed, having done a similar swap, bell housing different, ratios the same...

cool thanks guys, so my bellhousing & transfer case will bolt up to the new box?
