As I mentioned in one of the other threads I managed to puncture both my rears a couple of weeks ago.
Below is a Pick of the damage

Bolted up a standard and at full stretch - not even close enough so I went shopping with the tape measure for any shock with eyes at both ends that measured 450mm at about 1/2 stretch.
Ending up gettiong a set of Monroes from the rear of a Sigma from pick-a-part, the monroe at full stretch measures a full inch more than my busted rancho.
Nice and soft, probably wont handle much abuse but at $36 for the pair I can bust half a dozen sets before coming close to the $$$ for Rancho's
Should do me for a while
Just thought I'd share it, Have posted a pick of a standard next to the rancho to give you an idea.
Steve

Hmmm remember your quote? "All lifes imperfections can be easily covered with checker plate." ... doesn't apply to shockers does it?
Hadn't ever seen shockers in that state b4... but hey, "I'm only a little kid"
But it's good to see you're not riding "shockless" though.

I took it for a little drive (about 20 metres) and it was great with the dead shocks in the back - it made it feel like it had the best brakes in the world because the whole car would lift at the back, then compress heaps - awesome fun
I'm guessing that my 9012's are going to be similar to this too

I'm glad you saw the funny side of that big steve - in reality, i reckon a new set of shocks on a regular basis would get annoying though

Sorry for letting the cat out of the bag on this one big steve, but i just wanted to point out to everyone that big steve didn't kill the new rear shocks on saturday's trip as we had all expected, instead he bashed the crap out of the front passenger side rancho
Oh man, that's just too much carnage for any two trips in a row mate - pretty soon your car will be in rougher nick then my old hardtop

yes this is true, perhaps time for a carnage thread I think.

Bah Humbug shock absorbers are way over rated
.. you can drive a SPOA zukk with just one functioning shock
Mind you it is kinda scary if you hit a decent sized bump at anything more than crawling pace ..

what, like ripping a number plate off the tail gate when it is mounted 3 feet above the ground?
I've gotta stop letting other people drive the car i reckon
especially people that can't fit in the car once the doors are on

I think I will plead the 5th here on the grounds that answering this question could result in me being broken in half this saturday

Um It was a sigma, I didn't take much notice, they are monroe gas shocks to suit a sigma, sorry no more info than that (The had some nice little dents in them allready when I pulled them off.
