are these full fiberglass fj40's a good idea to be taken off road do they break easy or would it be better to look for a all metal one?

thanks

Go kevlar   :D Suposed to be unbreakable i think.

At a guess metal would be stronger, and easier to pacth up than fibreglass though.

Fiberglass cruiser tubs were mainly intended for corrosive environments ie lots of beach work. But they are also way lighter than a steel tub, so need to take about 3 leaves at least out of the spring pack to get any sort of suspension movement. Power to weight ratio is much improved.

Mine's copped plenty of solid knocks and been on it's side a couple of times no dramas.
The tubs are solid as, panels will take a fair hammering before they crack, rather than bend. So you sand it, re-glass it and off ya go.
Having said that I don't know how they'd fare in a high speed accident, but steel bodies dont pull up too well either really...
And yeah orrrsome if you're doing a lot of beach work.
