i`d love to see their 1uz kit
as far as they know holden and chev are the only 2 motors on the planet
Castlemain Rod Shop do bell housings to suit hilux boxes, don`t know about cruiser stuff. However I think with a bit of SEARCHING you`ll find loads of info on both here and lextreme about bolting cruiser boxes up to a 1uz.

Have a chat to Twisty, I thought he was on this forum as well, but you will find him on 4WD Monthly. He's got the 1UZ in his 4Runner, I'm pretty sure Wizard in Brisbane had alot to do with the bits that he didn't do himself.

correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't an FJ73 have a H series box in it, if so can't the bell housing from a 100 series V8 manual be used to bolt them together

The latest 100 series has a 2uzfe, thesame block....wreckers will sell you a 5 speed that the 1uz will bolt to...then you can have a constant 4wd 73
Biggest problem you will encounter is wiring it up, followed by getting a fuel pump in your tank, then paying off the credit card.....considering a 4.5 80 is less than 10k these days...why dont you buy one instead???

Send Dellow's an Email or check out the product area on there webpage.......My mate was looking at dropping a 1UZ into his 40 series and they did a bellhousing kit to suit the 4spd behine his current 3f motor, so they will probably do one to suit 5 speed in yours too!

Later model 80's are cheap as through auctions now 94-95 models for 7-10K for GXL's. Even saw a TD sahara 91 auto go throught for 9k and a TD manaul gxl last week 7K. Not bad buying even if there is a few things to do to tidy up.
9k for a petrol and another 6-7 for a turbo kit makes a fast fourby for under 20k.

well both dellows and CRS do a kit for the toyota 5 speed, they are around $1500 all up, not sure what size flywheel they are using thou.
but first things first i have to get the motor out of the halfcut with all the wiring intact.
Thanks for the help so far,
Cheers
