aquiring cj7

ok guys never thought i's post in here, but i'm looking at a jeep cj7 3spd maual with a 308 v8 can anyone tell me what these are like say in comparison to a fj40 are they wider or do they have a stronger drive line?
what should i look out for it's a 79 model, is the 3spd manal a good box or shoud i look at replacing it , but what with? and do they have a lsd and are parts available for them?
