Winch Comps - what spares do you carry?

Hi there,

Going in a few more winch comps and I'm after info from those of you who compete in winch comps on what you carry in the way of spares in case of breakages etc, if you could list them out that would be absolutely awesome.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Cheers, Paul.

I depends on the truck. If you have a patrol then you just carry winch spares and wheel studs. If it's a tojo then you carry spare diffs and drive shafts and if it's a rangie you tow a spare vehicle. :finger: Need to know the truck and what exactly have you done to it.

Not my truck but I'm the navi/winch biarch. It's a V8 GQ Patrol. I'm thinkin:

Spare Alt
Winch motor
Winch rope
1 or 2 Spare coil packs.
CV's

What else? Don't want to carry too much crap, just curious if theres something I haven't thought of.

Spare brake shaft for the winch, spare tire :D , spare shocks or rebuild kit, Jumper leads and 2.5mm welding rods, don't carry a full alternator just spare bushes. Light globes and fuses etc, spare belts and spare undies :D

I think the highmount dead dragging us up the hill just on the battery more than made up for the running out of fuel incident, go the ac delco batteries! As for our team mate, well at least we went and got him fuel.

spare spindle hubs 1 for each side as they are diffrent (gq & gu are not the same) & spare free wheeling hubs (especialy if it is a gu front diff as the cv's are much stronger)

I keep a couple of these "O" rings on my key ring, so they can't be lost.

And trailer to carry all the above mentioned stuff in!

If you went in a yota you wouldn't need half this stuff...
