Outer Limits 4x4 Board

This might be a bit of a stupid question, but thought I'd just double check anyway....

My zook currently has hilux diffs with air lockers front and rear and I've bought all the gear to make them the IFS widetrack.......BUT, I just got a deal to good to pass up on some 60 series diffs with air-lockers in them, and am now thinking these would be better for the zook.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't use the 60 series diffs on the zook? I think they will be better in every way (stronger, wider) but just wanted to make sure.

We have 60 series diffs in our buggy. Yet to bust a diff or standard inner axel on the front. We broke a few Haultech CVs but now have Chromo CVs which work a treat.

They are quite a good proposition, really, when you weigh up the $$. Add some Longfield axels and you will be laughing.

Sweet.....I picked up the pair for $300 with air lockers in each, compressor, switches, wiring

So the 4runner will get one of the zooks hilux air lockers and 4.8 rear diff, and after selling all the widetrack gear, cross over high steer, other 4.8 diff with air-locker I am way out in front, might have enough for some longfield axles.....what kinda $$$ do they go for?

Do the 60's have an offset rear to suit the zook xfer too? (I haven't picked them up yet, so haven't seen them)

And what kinda cross over steering arms can you get for 60's diffs? will the hilux double arm fit?

Shave the center's and install (so long as you can get the ratios you are after)

A mate said they'll be 4.8's....but doesn't really worry me what ratios they are as I've got twin xfer's one of which already has reduction gears fitted.....so should have more than enough gearing for the 37s

Damn Twisty, that's a bargain !!!!!! I'm after some 60 series diffs and yet to find one that cheap especially with air lockers etc

60's diff from wrecker is like $300 ea
AIR LOCKER form arb bout $1100 ea
comprssor from ARB like $500
4.8 gear set's don't know but BLOODY costly
line, breather' setc like $250+

yeah Wicked, it was a fluke of a deal....am bloody stoked!!!

I don't know what steering I'll need yet......I don't even know what 60 series have, so will have to suss all that out yet.....I've got a 80 series p/steer box to use, and will probably go hydro assist, but am not sure what I need for arms and stuff at the moment.

Oh, and my mates thought they had 4.8's std.....but after a bit of searchin this morning I think it will have 4.1's.

Nah, it aint a stolen one.....it's been on Fraser Island for most of its life and is a complete rust bucket.....we will be cutting the diffs off with a oxy The guy just doesn't know what they are actually worth, but they must be one of the first original air-lockers, as the switches are nothing like the current ones.....

twisty, they a blue square that you push in that lights up? if so, got the same on my air locker. i think mine was installed over 2 decades ago, and it'd still be working if i hadn't drowned the compressor...

60 Rear is offset to the right, should help with rear shaft position.

yeah, thats the way my mate described them.....

They are all payed for this arve, and we are pulling them out next weekend.....my mate took it for a quick drive (even though the chassis is about to snap in half) and said it drives great!! so hopefully the diffs will be sweet after a quick freshen up!

60s and hilux use the same CVs and the axels are bout the same in strength.
But for that price why not? what a bargain. Shore you dont want to sell one??????????

it just depends on wat you want 60s basically use the same axles and cvs(just slightly longer splines) as hilux but have a bigger centre which means you will loose clearence but surely the upgrade in strength would be worth the slight clearence lost and if your that worried you could shave them
