GU Radius Arm Spacers

The query is for the spacers to move the diff forward 15mm.

I am thinking about making a set but am unsure if they are heat treated, does anyone know.

Would also appreciate if someone could PM dimensions or a drawing for it would save me pulling them apart to measure.

Dont think they were heat treated the ones I bought from Big Balls, though they looked they were zinc plated or the same stuff found on some panhard rods. They were around the $50 mark and i need them for the weekend so i just payed for em. The spaces are actually 12.5mm and I think Andrew Cassar sells them for a bit cheaper.

Wow, will have to put our price up, as they have been to cheap it seems....

We do 12mm, because they work on current model as well to fit 285's with normal lift hitting the mudflap, and the adj panhard rod hitting the diff.

Not heat treated, but make sure you make the inner, and outer, and if you have those facilities, make sure you make a captive washer for the rubbers as well, if you have a lift, and the front arms are angled.

i make them out of 4140 H/T steel..... and you are right, 15mm are no good with an adjustable panhard..... the nut on the panhard hits the pumpkin.... i was considering making a dozen sets and flogging them on ebay.

I run the BBM spacers with the adjustable panards, and have no dramas.
I run 35inch pedes with only a 4 inch suspension lift and have no rubbage.
Short GQ, Petrol, Turbo.

thats why we use 12mm, works best IMHO, and easier to fit ;)

They basically relocate your front axle 15mm forward, so that you have a bit more clearance to fit larger tyres.

Thanks for the replys.

I am running a 3" lift and with the 35s they hit the mud flaps on full lock. Sounds like 12mm is the best option.

No it only moves the diff assembly forward.

For castor correction it still requires bushes, dop boxes or plates.

sootygu if you put 12mm spacers on you wont hit your mud flaps on full lock anymore .

the reason there is 4 is cause there is 2 large and 2 small the large ones are to space the diff forward the 12mm (they go on the arms first ) than since everything has moved forward 12mm you need to put the small ones on for the rubber bushes to sit over so they are not sitting on the threaded part of the arm (they cover 12mm of the thread) , hence why if you go much bigger than the 12mm ones you start to run out of sufficent thread to put on the nut .

Support the bloody industry & just buy the spacers, mine cost me $50 [ anodised steel ]. I'm worth more than $50 an hour & i doubt anyone could machie up a set of these & treat then in under an hour. Save your engineering skills & time & apply them to worthy projects which r expensive aftermarket, eg; controlarms, barwork

If you can make something yourself...DO IT.

There is nothing wrong with using your own time and skills, especially if you get enjoyment and satisfaction out of it. Nothing to do with "suporting the industry"

If you have the equipment why not make your own gear. I have and still make all different bits and pieces from a complete rear bar to battery trays.

I am sure theres still enough business out there to support the majority of companies.

support the industry, sure...... support fellow 4WDers, hell yeah!! i can make 10 sets of spacers in an hour and spend a couple of minutes painting them :) I see nothing wrong with helping people out. I am going to make some sets of them next week. they don't need treating if you use high tensile steel. 4140 is very durable steel. 2 steel discs, 25mm I.D 40mm O.D x 12.5mm thick.... any machinist worth his pay can make them in his sleep.

ats4x4dotcom if you can do something better than me and charge less then u deserve the customer.

Do you ring an electrician to change a light bulb? or a plumber to change washers in a tap?? No of course not because it is simple and can do it yourself and they would charge you a fair bit!!

There is are 60cents worth of steel and 10 minutes of machining if your crap like me. Why pay $50 if you can do it yourself? Its not like these companies that make them have a patent or anything....its a bloody spacer for christ sake.

Too many ripoffs in this industry.
Consequently people will pay for what they cant make
Yeah for sure people have to run a business but people who are making spacers etc would not be doing one offs so you really only have 1 setup cost for however many batches you are making
Castor plates are the biggest rip off I have ever seen
4 laser cut plates with washers welded to them, 2 tubes & 6 bolts........Ive seen them for as much as $230. There is no way they cost anywhere near that to make
