Rangie lifter issues

G'day, This is my first post/question. I have been having a perv at the site for a while and I have been impressed by the quality of posts. I am lucky enough to have 2 rangies :?: One is a '77 2 door (fairly standard) and the other is my '85 daily driver, which is the reason for my enquiry as it is getting a bit rattly and deciding by itself where and when it will run on 8 cylinders! All dependant on how hot it is usually. There that being said.............
My questions are, Do the cam and lifters have to be replaced at the same time or can the lifters be replaced by themselves? Would I be wasting my money by replacing lifters without the cam? Hopefully someone has some experience they might share. Thirdly, Who sells reasonably priced Range rover bits?
The engine in question is a standard 3.5
Thanks in advance
W

you should replace both at the same time as the cam will be well worn by now, i would imagine it has done well over 180k by now so a new cam/lifters/ timing set will give it a new lease of life.

But only do it once, as three times is just overkill! :D

Also consider getting the (new) lifters reground. I got a set from wade cams for a 202. They told me that most - if not all lifters should be done from new otherwise the cam will wear heaps.

(They could just be trying to get a few more $$ from a sucker, but i got them done anyway :? )
