Hi all,

after a bit of help. Got a highmount thats had a big dunk in mud and crud, so I'm giving it a freshen up.

I'm trying to get the brake shaft out , I've got the shaft stripped of the brake housing etc just need some direction on getting the shaft out of the housing. Does it need to be driven out from the drum side of the housing? It comes out about 5mm then stops, but I haven't tried driving it out yet.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers,

Paul

You have to take the drum off Berett's. on mine there was a retaining plate inside that slides up so the shafts can be removed, Mines an early one though.
See if this helps mate. http://www.warn.com/truck/ReplacementPa ... l81-82.pdf

That the parts list with an exploded view of the winch.

If you just keep undoing shit they fall apart. They're a piece of piss, just rip into it.

It's all completely apart it's just getting the shaft out. Got some tips off a mate in the know, will have a go tonight.

Lift the retention plate on the inside of the winch to free the brake shaft. Tap the assembly out to free the bronze bushing from the housing.

Spot on, that is very helpful, thanks for that! I'll be putting that into practice when I get home.
